This game saw Lachie Holyoak-Roberts play for the first time this season after suffering a groin injury during pre-season training. Sorely missed in the backline, he displayed good reading of the play.
After a hard start to the first quarter, Kwinana kicked the first goal. Roleystone's first goal was kicked by JJ after strong work in the centre. At 4 goals behind, Callum was good across half back. Mason marked well.
The boys effort in the second quarter was good at the ball but they were unable to reign in the score with most efforts of the ball going into the fifty coming straight back out.
Will displayed good consistent effort across forward pocket. Mason nearly took out the goal post and Jacob kicked a good goal.
Good persistent effort through the centre in the fourth quarter showed that hard play could bring this team close to the top team if all quarters were played like this. Alex displayed strong play throughout, consistently getting the better of his man.
A good effort by the boys, trumped by Kwinana.

On a fine, sunny day at Roleystone's home ground, the 14's were taking on the Lakes. The first quarter was dominated by the Lakes team with Roleystone defenders having to work hard at the ball with solid tackling and persistence at the ball. Key players from the quarter, Callum, JJ, Jayden, Jake, Alex, Mason, Curtis and Shane were defending hard at the oppositions attack but it was Lakes at the end of the first quarter up by 33 points.
The start of the second quarter was much the same story with Lakes quick on their feet. A goal to Luke G was uplifting for the Roley team's effort. A free kick to Mitchell resulted in a goal by Jarrod J as the forward line was getting more action this quarter. Mitchell's persistence at the ball, winning the ruck was another goal on the board for Roley. At the half time break, the Roley team could be congratulated for a better quarter of footy.
The third quarter saw a more determined attack at the ball by the Tigers - JJ, Dylan, Luke Mc and Mitchell had strong work ethic pushing through the packs. Callum's goal was a good team effort as Roley lifted for the rest of the term, limiting Lakes' goals to only 1 that quarter.
The fourth quarter was more consistent even play across the ground with great determination at the ball by Luke G, JJ, Mitchell, Callum, Mason and Dylan. Overall Lakes won the game but Roley put up a good fight.

With all players eager to get underway with the first game of the season, quarter one saw Jayden kick the first goal of the season. At the end of the first quarter, Roleystone were convincingly dominating the game with a score of 5 goals 5 points to Kelmscott's 1 point.
The second quarter saw Kelmscott kick their first goal early in the quarter. Tom displayed fine tuned skills, kicking a set shot at goals on a tight angle. Dylan also scored a great goal. Great work in the back line by Tele accompanied by a good tackle by Jack B, then a good pass to Jayden to set him up for an easy goal. Roleystone still dominated at the end of the second quarter 8 goals 6 points to Kelmscott's 2 goals 1 point.
The start of the third quarter saw rain. Jarrod scored a great goal picked off around the pack. It was raining goals for Roleystone early in the third quarter with Callum not letting Kelmscott get past centre half forward. Curtis was working hard a ground level. Luke rucking well around the ground. Good follow up work by Aaron Murray to score a goal. Roleystone blitzed Kelmscott in this quarter with a score of 16 goals 9 points to Kelmscott's 2 goals 1 point.
The final quarter saw Luke McNamee, Jacob Horseman and Brent Ashby put up a great effort for Roleystone. The boys were working just as hard in the fourth quarter as they did at the start of the game. Their commendable efforts are reflected in the final score of 21 goals 14 points to Kelmscott's 2 goals 1 point.

Conditions - It's a slightly cloudy day today with the ground a bit wet.
With the first kick going to Mundijong, Roleystone needs to stick to their players.
Going into the second quarter, Centrals opened with two goals, with Roleystone putting up a good fight they set themselves up for a goal... with the kick slightly off, they got the point.
Coming out of half time Roleystone's defence was strong. They had some excellent marks and some great kicks.
Last quarter sees Roleystone playing hard. Keeping the ball in the forward line and looking like their first goal, a touch saw them score another point.
As the siren sounds, its a loss for Roleystone. |
