12's Black Round 7 Cockburn v Roleystone @ Davilak Reserve PDF Print E-mail
Our first full team of the year and an all round good game.

This was our first game of the year with a full team (15 no reserves) and this started the team off with a positive and it showed well into the first quarter with our team making great play and keeping the opposition from the ball.  While not scoring freely we did have most of the ball in our forward but too many mistakes cost us a number of goals.

12's Gold Rnd 6 24/05/08 Roleystone v South Coogee Red @ Santich Park PDF Print E-mail

A big day for Daniel Quartermaine – his 50th game today, and the players formed a guard of honour as he burst through his banner before the game.

A heavy downpour about 2 minutes into the game made play difficult, but Coogee were on the attack straight away. Cam Allnutt was showing skill early, and took a great overhead mark at half back. He was combining well with Jeremy in the centre but Coogee’s pressure saw them post the first goal.

12's Gold Rnd 5 17/05/08 Roleystone v Kelsmcott @ Springdale Park PDF Print E-mail

Roleystone seemed well primed to take on a team which had provided strong competiton in previous seasons. Cam "the hard nut" Allnutt was throwing his weight around in a smiling assassin sort of way, and Brodie started his day with a beautiful leaping mark on the half back flank. Matt had a marking attempt denied, but then Adam marked well from a Lochie kick, however his kick for goal fell short.  Good old Liam laid a spectacular tackle about 10m out from the goal, and earned a well-deserved holding free. End result – a great goal! Kelmscott replied quickly, and then Sam booted a textbook drop-punt from the wing, into the goal square and straight down the throat of our favourite Big Unit, Matty, who goaled. Kelmscott kept steamrolling the ball forward, not exactly pretty but certainly effective. David took two courageous marks at centre half back, Troy spoiled well, and Jordan was displaying his usual solid defensive skills.

12's Gold Rnd 4 10/05/08 Roleystone v South Coogee White @ Springdale Park PDF Print E-mail
Before the bounce, Jadeon was seconded to help out Roleystone Black, who were a man down.

The rain cleared for the start of the game, which saw Lochie, Tom and Jeremy starting in the centre. Cam Allnutt dived in hard at centre half back and earned a good free, but he first five minutes were basically all played in Coogee’s attacking half. Brodie, Adam and Davo were all getting touches, and Bryce was again marking well. Troy passed across the ground to Lochie at half back, Lochie then got it over to Tom, who booted to Matt but the ball spilled from his grasp. Tom followed up quickly and had a  shot, but it went across the face. South Coogee ran it down the ground, and with plenty of unmanned players scored a nice goal. Roleystone replied in the best possible way – at the bounce it was Jeremy who speared a pass to the leading Lochie, who benefited from a 50-metre penalty and kicked a nice goal. South Coogee were good on the rebound and stringing handpasses together, but good marking from Jordan, Tom, Lochie and David in the centre slowed them nicely.

12's Black Rnd 6 24/05/08 Roleystone v Centrals @ Springdale Park PDF Print E-mail
A very wet game with slippery conditions made a tight fought game with a very close result.

With the team only with 11 players available it was again not the best start of the day.  Fortunately Centrals had 21 players and provided four players for our team each quarter so both teams had 15 players on the ground each quarter.

The day was very wet and the start of our game showed as we struggled to cope with the wet ball and slippery ground, however Centrals were in the same position so it was a closely fought first quarter.  Centrals got away from us in the first quarter with some hard ball gets and while our movement into our forward was good our ability to keep it there and take advantage of it was not working our boys were too flat footed and needed to get in front.
