It was Centrals that scored first though and as the raim came down Centrals kept the ball in their forward 50. The heavy ground was worrying our boys, they heavy rain made it very hard to get possession - Tony worked hard in the 1st quarter but just couldnt get a shot on goal. Tigers stepped up and moved the ball forward but the time ran out - Roleystone three goals down at the first break.
The rain was heavier at the start of the second but we worked it forward and a strong mark by Marcus in front of goal gave us our first 6 points. A free kick to us and some quick thinking by David got the ball to Blake who popped it through - Tigers back in the hunt. Cody and Peter were fantastic in defense, Roleystone kept Centrals scoreless that quarter.
Alex moved to the ruck, Brandon was off with an ankle injury. The Tigers lifted their work rate and got a goal back, through Tony finding just enough space, but Centrals scored twice, keeping their nose just in front.
The rain held off in the fourth quarter and Tigers lifted, we got within 2 points with everyone putting in the effort but the ground was heavy going. Centrals worked the ground better and a late free kick in front of goal secured their victory. Just 8 points in it at the final siren. |
