The speed and teamwork, combined with a strong understanding of the new rules enabled the Roley 12s a fantastic and sizeable victory last Saturday at Medina Oval against Kwinana. Speaking of sizeable, the Roley boys were all talk pre game about the mountainous size of one of the Kwinana boys. However they were reminded that football is a team game and that there is no assumptions to be made in football; it all unfolds on the ground.

The Roleystone 12s produced their best 'team' game of the season with every player contributing to the performance. This may seem an unusual comment considering Roley lost to Lakes on Saturday; however many of the lesser lights stood up and played their part in the game.
The first quarter was the longest 'ever', and a little confusing. 9 minutes in to the quarter an unfortunate accident occured and one of the Lakes players was stretchered from the field and taken away in an ambulance. Both teams were under the impression that the siren for the end of quarter had been blown; therefore when returning to the field players assumed a change of ends. The umpire then indicated that the first quarter was continuing for another 7 minutes. This meant that the backline and forward line were askew. However back pocket, come forward pocket, Daniel East snared Roley's first goal.

Roley ventured to Mundijong at the unusual time of 1 pm and on a windy and occasionally wet afternoon did battle. A few late and a couple of non-arrivals required some changes on the field however the boys adjusted quickly.
Due to the rain and wind, the ball was difficult to mark and often went over the back of packs. Jake Spanjers gained many early possessions and put on some good midfield tackling pressure. The midfielders played intelligently remaining across the half forward line and rebounding the ball any time it came out of the forward line. Eric Mitchell was again very solid across half back crashing the packs and sending the ball forward again. The first quarter was a 3 goal to 1 result for Roley.
