"Roleystone 13s on a winning streak knew today's match was going to be test of endurance and team cohesion as they venture to Fremantle for a game against the Freo City Dockers"
The morning was blue sky and sunshine, ideal conditions for football. The game commenced with even play down the ground in what was to be a tight game of pressurised play and desperation as each team fought to maintain possession of the footie. It was one point each at the first quarter break.
A break through was a goal to Mitchell in the second quarter to keep Roleystone in touch but they were still behind going into the next half of the game. In terms of scoring opportunities for both teams it was a hard fought contest with plenty of tackling and one on one play as Roleystone tried to penetrate the play and get into the contest. Saying that, the score was neck to neck and it could have gone either way at the half time break.
The third quarter score was dominated by the Fremantle team as they managed to kick more goals this term. The Roleystone team knew the challenge that was ahead of them in the final quarter.
It was in the final quarter that the game became very exciting and memorable as going into the last session Roleystone were down by three goals. In this term a goal by JJ and Mitchell was uplifting to the team effort. It was a snap on goal by Luke in the dying minutes of the game that pushed the score over the line for the Roleystone team to win by only 2 points.
The final score was Roleystone 6 goals 6 points defeating Fremantle 6 goals 4 points.
A good test for the 13s team. Keep up the hard work!!
Go the Mighty Tigers!!
